Data Analysis using D3.js – Tutorial – 00

There are tonnes of tools out there which anyone can use without programming skills to do reports for them. Some of these tools are free while others are very expensive. The trend out there is like this, the less code you know, the more money you pay.

I have only begun my career in data analysis only a month back and I can tell you, if you’re looking for ways to quickly get data displayed on the internet, these are the tools you will need:

  • a github account
  • a data file (preferably in JSON file format)
  • D3.js javascript library

I promise you, it isn’t that hard to do a basic graph. However, before you start, it is required that you know or at least understand the following tools:

  • html5 (svg)
  • css
  • how to declare variables and define functions

In the next series of tutorials, I will guide you through getting data and displaying it on your website using simple HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Keep tuned in for more.
